Every Child in Stevenage Matters (ECISM)

In 2003 the government published a green paper called Every Child Matters. Following the consultation period, the Government published Every Child Matters: the Next Steps, and passed the Children Act 2004, providing legislative framework for the development of more effective and accessible services focused around the needs of children, young people and families.

Following on from the Children’s Act the government published Every Child Matters: Change for Children in 2004, developing a framework that sets out a new approach to the well-being of children and young people from birth to age 19. The aim is to ensure that an all inclusive strategy is adopted across the country enabling all children and young people to have access to the support they need. As a result of the act and extensive consultation to develop a national framework, five key outcomes were identified as priority areas for children and young people:

Be Healthy
Stay Safe
Enjoy and achieve
Make a positive contribution
Achieve economic well-being

Primera Corporation was commissioned to run a consultation event with the aim bringing together major stakeholder agencies/groups to discuss and debate;

How Stevenage can deliver in partnership the five focused outcomes and what changes and challenges need to be debated in order to fulfil the needs of children and young people and achieve a meaningful local plan.
