Kings Cross Central
Argent Group plc
To provide support and advice on the development and implementation of Argent’s Section 106 agreement with the London Borough of Camden. Although our work as to advise Argent on their commitments surrounding Training and Employment, our work fundamentally concentrated on skills and employment within the Construction Industry. Our contract with Argent is ongoing and Primera has spent the last four years developing a comprehensive construction training strategy. This has encouraged the development of a state of the art construction training centre; commitment from all lead contractors and their supply chain and assisting in selection of the Resident Training Provider for Camden.
Primera Corporation have produced a Construction Training Support Plan that will tackle the issues for Kings Cross, but equally provide realistic opportunities for local people at both entry level and for those wanting to follow a workforce development route for progression. To work with the architects and design team on the construction of a Training Centre.
In 2008 Primera Corporation developed a Contractors Forum and Construction Charter to demonstrate the commitment by contractors and their supply chain to provide local training and employment opportunities. All underpinned by a Contractors Strategy setting out how King Cross Central would provide an exemplar model for local employment opportunities.
The final element of activity has been working with Construction Skills to develop a skills plan that would award Kings Cross Central with National Skills Academy Status for Construction. A flagship development underpinned by a robust and comprehensive package of training and employment. In December 2008 Kings Central were awarded skills academy status.
